Hiring an unlicensed roofer is a bad decision, although, for some people, it might seem like a good deal.
Ok, so you know somebody, who knows somebody, who is a Jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none and has the reputation of fixing roofs for a very good price. You contact this person and make a deal. He fixes your roof, but, after a little while, you realize that the fix was not what it should have been and you still have problems with your roof. Obviously, the unlicensed roofer didn`t offer you any warranty for the job. How could he?
This time you want to make things right, so you contact a professional Lafayette roofing company, but their services are more expensive, as the roof damage has also become bigger, in the meantime… You try to use your insurance, but your request for compensation is denied because you cannot prove that your roof has been fixed by a licensed professional.
Another scenario: while the unlicensed person you made a deal with works on your roof, an accident happens and he gets injured on your property. No license also means no insurance for him, so you will be liable.
Are you ready to take such risks? If the answer is “no”, make sure you stay away from unlicensed roofers!
